Mandrel Bending

Mandrel Bending
Mandrel bending is a hydraulic process of tube bending without reducing the diameter. An internal tool called a "mandrel" supports the walls as the tube is drawn around the bend die.
Once the bending process has completed, the mandrel is extracted. Very tight radius bends can be achieved while retaining the original size.
In the automotive and aircraft industry, mandrel bending is considered integral to any high performance exhaust system for maximum flow.
